STUDENTS x Sugarloaf

A closer look inside Students Golf x Sugarloaf Social Club Collection.

Students Golf and Sugarloaf Social Club announce the release of a limited-edition capsule collaboration, uniting two brands driven by a shared vision for modern golf culture—one that champions individuality, honors accomplishment, and celebrates the stories golfers earn over time.

Rooted in bold graphics, expressive prints, and meticulous custom details, the collection uses design as a language. Each element functions as a visual marker of experience—much like earned badges—reflecting the journey, milestones, and respect for the game that define a true golfer.

Across the collection, special patches, graphics, and subtle detailing act as symbolic “badges”—nods to participation, progress, and achievement within the game. Inspired by the idea that golf is defined by moments earned over time, each piece is designed to feel personal, collectible, and expressive, while remaining fully functional on the course.

“This collaboration was about creating objects that tell stories,” said Michael Huynh, Founder and Chief Creative of Students Golf. “Sugarloaf Social Club understands that golf is more than just swinging clubs on a course. They honor tradition, but they also know how to grow the game.” Huynh added, “Working with Ian and the Sugarloaf family was a major milestone for me. I view Ian Gilley as a pioneer in the golf space, and I have the utmost admiration and respect for him.”

Ian Gilley, Founder and Creative Director of Sugarloaf Social Club shared, “I am always trying to marry the past with the present, blending fun bits from streetwear, sportswear, and workwear into something unique and useful—and Students does this in spades. This wasn’t collaboration for collaboration’s sake—it was about making something that feels instantly familiar, intentional, and earned—just like the badges that inspired the collection.”

At its core, the collaboration also reinforces the foundations of the game—principles that are sometimes overlooked as golf continues to grow. Through the lookbook, Students Golf and Sugarloaf Social Club tell the story of a young golfer learning the etiquette and responsibility of the sport under the guidance of a team leader and maestro: learning how to pitch chip shots, filling divots, fixing pitch marks (even when they aren’t his), raking bunkers properly, and leaving the course better than he found it. Each lesson passed earns a badge, ultimately leading to the reward of the a team jacket and a limited-edition MacKenzie golf bag.

The lookbook features Costa Mesa City Champion standouts alongside Team Students Golf athletes, including Matt Ingram (UC Irvine) and Tiger Tahvildari (CSU Long Beach), embodying the spirit, discipline, and pride that define the collection. Lookbook 2 features scenes from Sugarloaf’s new office and showroom in McLean, Virginia.
