Building the Students Golf Brand

When I first set out to launch Students, I knew it needed a strong, distinct brand image in the golf apparel space. It had to represent pillars that spoke to my sensibilities and lifestyle. Too many times I've seen golf brands aspire to the same lanes as heavy hitters like Nike, Adidas, or Puma, and fall short due to manufacturing resources or overall marketing budgets. Often a golf brand only knows how to go "tech" and doesn't spend enough time establishing its own identity. Catering to a wide audience is tough. Consumers have many great brands to choose from, and they often settle for the big names.

Off-Course First, On-Course Next

My strategy with Students was to start with off-course golf hoodies, accessories, and modern golf apparel that signal our visual language and demographic, then evolve into on-course apparel launching Spring 2022. For everyone asking about golf polos and on-course pieces—yes, we're offering an extensive men's golf polos line for Spring 2022. In the meantime, we'll continue to offer off-course preppy golf clothes to further develop our identity through this collection launch.
